This project is a partnership between the University of Maryland Center for Environmental Science Appalachian Laboratory, the Appalachian Mountains Joint Venture, and forest owners, managers, and users in the region surrounding Lexington, Virginia. The goal of the project is to couple local expertise and community priorities with scientific data to develop a forest management plan that balances the needs of breeding and migrating birds with the priorities of community members. Our approach centers on collaboration to conserve and promote healthy forests for all in the Appalachian Mountains.
