Results from Rockbridge County Community Survey
We invited the community to participate in a short survey about forest priorities in Rockbridge County and received 147 responses from people who live in the county as well as those who own land, work, recreate, or have an ancestral or family connection to the county. The results provide important insights as we move forward with the co-development of the comprehensive forest plan.

Allen Family Foundation announced a $1.2M grant to University of Maryland Center for Environmental Science (UMCES) and Appalachian Mountains Joint Venture/American Bird Conservancy (AMJV/ABC) to use data from remote sensing and machine learning to develop conservation plans that support habitat needs of birds in the Appalachian Mountains during breeding and migratory stopover. The award will support two graduate student researchers, including a current AMJV/ABC staff member who will pursue a master’s degree in the area of Environment and Society at UMCES while retaining her position with AMJV/ABC.
